Vehicle Details

The 1953 Cadillac Series 62 was a body style produced for the Cadillac franchise of General Motors. The Series 62 replaced the Series 70, a mid-sized series of vehicle produced since 1941. The Cadillac series 62 remained in production until 1964. The Cadillac Series 62 was revamped to the Series 6200, and then replaced by the Cadillac Calais. From 1949 to 1953 Fisher Body built the Series 62 on a 129" wheelbase. In 1949 Cadillac introduced the 331 cubic inch OHV V8 that produced 160 horsepower. The convertible option was offered exclusively in 1953 as only 8,367 were produced. This was also one of the fastest production cars produced and sold to the public in '53. Other changes made that separate the '53 from other models include a redesigned grille, Heavier integral bumpers, the infamous "Dagmar" bumper guards, chrome headlamp doors, and the parking lamps were repositioned under the headlamps. What identifies a Series 62 is the non-louvered rear fenders, Cadillac crests on the hood and trunk lid, and thin, bright metal trim on the bottom of the vehicle. Factory MSRP on this exquisite Cadillac in 1953 was approximately $4,144.00.

This 1953 Cadillac (Model code 6267X) on display has received an extensive, no expense spared high-quality restoration that took approximately seven years to complete. The previous owner was very adamant with his documentation of the vehicle, and was also kind enough to keep track of the restoration process with detailed photographs. Also, we have extensive records of the restoration, parts purchases, repair work, chrome work, glass installation, gold plating, and detailing! The wire wheels were taken apart, rebuilt, and refinished to a concourse quality finish. The undercarriage is very clean, along with the trunk and the engine compartment. The factory body tag is in place on the passenger side of the firewall.

Along with a concourse restoration, this vehicle is a multiple award winner. This car took place in 2005 as an AACA Junior award winner, and a senior award winner in 2006. It is also a Cadillac-LaSalle Club of America #392 senior award winner.

Some other notes to add is the hand stitched floor mats with the Cadillac insignia. These are color matched to the interior and blend well with the vehicle. Other build options include power windows, vacuum power antenna, rebuilt AM radio, the clock in the instrument panel has been rebuilt with quartz movement, Chrome original equipment Cadillac valve covers, and power steering just to name a few.
